"In Training"

Well, I am officially a "Children's Leader In Training" for BSF (Bible Study Fellowship).  I am SO EXCITED!  This is so clearly a God thing.  He has laid this path out before me and I am stepping out in faith.  Trust me, this is a very scary thing for me to pursue!  If it had been up to me I would not have chosen this route.  But since the Lord has brought this before me, I know He will do amazing things.  I can't wait!

From what I understand, my responsibilities will include writing and teaching weekly lessons based on the Bible text for that week, and facilitating discussion of study questions.  I'm not sure which class I will be assigned to yet.  I could be working with kids anywhere from age 7 to 17!  The good news is, I will not be alone.  I will have someone to co-lead the class with, a team of women who supports one another, and, of course, the Lord guiding my way.  I will find out more in the next few weeks.  I am so nervous!  But I am also excited to watch the Lord work.  It should be a really wonderful experience.  Please pray with me as I take on this new adventure!  It will be quite a commitment and may involve some adjustment for our family.  I am praying the Lord will FULLY prepare me, in every aspect, for what lies ahead.  And of course He will.  (It's up to me to trust Him!)

Training starts this week!

Checkin' in

So, it's been a while!  You know, there are so many of my friends who have spaces online, so occasionally I feel the need to keep up with the times.  ;^)  So here I am again, making an attempt to stick with it.

Life has been busy with our adorable boy in Kindergarten!  I have been helping in his class once a week and thoroughly enjoying it.  His teacher is great and appreciates the help.  I absolutely love those kids and its good to know and be known by the staff at his school.  Hopefully it will benefit Andrew's elementary years.

Herm is back at work!  Yay!!  I know he feels better having a routine again and bringin home the bacon.  It looks like the rest of his "100 days" will be covered.  We are thankful for the provision.  Now we all have to get back on schedule and find our rythym again.  :-)  We keep praying for that perm position.  I know God has His plans... I can't wait to see they play out!

Well, the boy wants me to sign up for his "club," so I must be going.  Is it any wonder why I don't update this site very often?  And he says it will only cost me $.50.  I hope I can afford that...

Take care and be Blessed!

A Paige in the Book of Life

Three days ago, we lost part of our church family.  Paige was only 20 years old when her life was cut short.  The car she was in was struck by an oncoming car who was swerving to avoid another driver who had decided to make a U-turn on a very busy local highway.  I have never met Paige or her family, but I know many who speak VERY fondly of the entire family.  They have been a loved part of Highlands for many years.  I praise God her name is in the Book of Life and she is now in the company of her Savior.  Though I did not know her, I have been touched by her - and I pray for the comfort of her family and all who knew her.

Down, but not out!!

Last week was a doozy!  Woke up Monday morning fighting a kicker of a cold that started over the weekend, and got a phone call from the local hospital's billing dept.  We haven't needed their services for a couple years now, thankfully, and I wondered what they would be calling us for.  Apparently, our insurance pulled their coverage of my husband's hospital stay over 2 years ago... So now we owe them $10,000!!!!  HUGE instant debt.  I spent that 1st day pretty much in shock, then it started to sink in.  Had a couple of really down days.  OK - God has allowed this to happen - WHY?  What is our future going to look like??  Retirement???  How will we ever be able to afford the things that need to be done to our home?  What if? How? Why? Waaaaaa!

So here it is a week later.  I spent quite a bit of time sorting through our paperwork and trying to get an idea of what's going on.  I can clearly see where God is taking us through this, and you know, I actually feel at peace about the $10,000!  Sometimes I think I'm just being naive, but I know the truth.  God provides!  I know what the Bible says about my God and I trust that we will make it through this!  Already there is answered prayer and good communication between Herm and I.  We are being forced to take a serious look at where our money is going and learn how to take control.  I can see God teaching me how to be more purposeful and actively involved in life rather than just allowing it to happen around me.  I've always been a "go-with-the-flow" kind of gal, very layed back and flexible.  It's good to be able to adapt to change and roll with the punches, but not good to just coast through life.

I know that if we concentrate on what God has to teach us through this and keep our eyes on Him, the rest will fall into place.  I am truly excited to see what He will accomplish through this!  I only hope I will stand firm in my faith while I go through the growing pains.

Well, this rotten cold is finally fading and my spirits are looking UP.  Covington Days is in a couple weeks and I have a lot to do to prepare for that.  Stay tuned!

Stepping Out

Hello!  I figure it's time to join the technically savvy and start my own web space.  Hopefully I will stick with this and keep it updated.  Life does get a little crazy at times and I am easily distracted.    Keeping a "blog" is a bit of a stretch for me, but stepping out of the comfort zone a bit helps build character.

My hope for this space is to be a connection for family and friends, and also a way to keep you informed on the latest and greatest from Tidings, my greeting card business.  I do have a formal website for Tidings as well.  Please visit tidings.lindsey-clan.com.  The site is currently being updated, so please check back for a new look and more information.

Pictures will be uploaded soon!  Love and Peace to you!  Cindy
